KORETEX's manufacturing use tight weaves (nylon, polyester) or special coatings (DWR, TPU, PUL) to repel water, keeping you dry in light rain by causing droplets to bead and roll off, often balancing repellency with breathability for active use in gear like jackets, tents, and outdoor apparel.
Key Types & Technologies
DWR Durable Water Repellent: A finish applied to fabric surfaces like polyester, nylon that makes water bead up and roll off, preventing saturation; often uses fluorochemicals PFAS but eco-friendly versions exist.
Laminated Fabrics: A waterproof membrane like TPU or PTFE bonded between fabric layers, offering high protection while allowing vapor to escape breathability.
PUL Polyurethane Laminate: A coated fabric with a transparent film that's waterproof and breathable, popular for diapers and outerwear.
TPU Thermoplastic Polyurethane: An eco-friendly, non-toxic coating or laminate, offering sustainable water resistance.
